Getting There/Around
Flights
- Los Cabos International Airport services many international flights daily and is located in San Jose del Cabo, just a quick 35 minute drive to Cabo San Lucas.
- Shuttle services run frequently to and from the airport. The cost is approximately $150 USD roundtrip for a private transfer of up to 6 people. See the link below for a shuttle company we have used previously with excellent service.

- If you choose to rent a car (many people take day trips to the beach at La Paz), there are two routes to choose from. There is a toll road that costs approximately $6 USD ($104 pesos) and is slightly faster, or you may choose to drive along the ocean for free. Both are safe, easily driven roads.
- Car rentals in Mexico are quite easy. We recommend SIXT or most of the other major companies. If your credit card has rental car insurance coverage, you may consider waiving the additional coverage that will be offered to you by the rental car companies. However, they will ask for a $2500 USD deposit on your credit card in order to waive the coverage. This is removed once you return the car. The cost is around $250-$300 USD per week but can change depending on the time of year.
Driving/In town + Airport + Transportation/Uber
- You do not need a car to get around Cabo. The apartment is located a quick 15-20 minute walk downhill to the beach with some of the best restaurants, shops, etc. along the way. Many people choose to walk down to the town/beach and take an Uber back up the hill.
- Uber rides in Cabo are cheap, costing approximately $5 USD per ride. We have found them to be very safe and clean and a great way to get around.
- Driving in Mexico is very similar to driving in the USA. Be aware that there are significantly more potholes and speed bumps. Obey all traffic signs and laws including the posted speed limits. If you do rent a car, after you arrive at the airport, proceed to baggage claim and then through customs. After customs, continue straight through the room of desks and sales people until you get outdoors. Cross the crosswalk and look for rental car staff by stands 1 & 2. There you can ask for a shuttle to take you to the rental car location.
Time Zone
- Cabo is on Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Safety
Cabo is an extremely safe location to stay & play in Mexico. I have traveled & stayed here alone as a young female with no problems or concerns. That being said, always use common sense and reasonable caution when traveling anywhere unfamiliar. Be respectful of Mexican customs and laws. Speaking Spanish isn’t necessary, but even attempting a little and having a good sense of humor always helps!
Should you need medical attention, Cabo has a well equipped hospital located close by in the downtown area.
Weather
Cabo weather is breezy & beautiful! Even during the summer, average temps are in the 80's with a cool ocean breeze.
